Smart thinking to foil the raccoons.
My dog has met his match!! Hahahaha!
My dog has one purpose in life, raiding trash cans. He delights in spreading trash around the house to mock the futility of my trash can protection efforts and then sitting on the floor all innocent like ‘who did that?’. But this cheap bungee cord plastic thing has put an end to his evil ways. He can knock the trash can over, but he can’t get inside! Now, when I come home and see him suffering from trash spreading withdrawal, it feels soooooooo goooooood.
We live in the mountains and on trash day - the local ever-growing bear population has discovered: Those big green plastic containers on rollers sitting out by the street are just filled with delicious things. We've tried many tricks to discourage the bears - but the Lid Lock has been the most effective and easiest to use, yet. Installation does require several holes to be drilled into the trash can - A fact we haven't shared with our trash company...but we figured we'd deal with that issue sometime in the future. For now - the bears are rooting through our neighbors' trash instead of ours.
It took me 5 minutes to install this. You need a power drill and 1/4" bit, a hook or small screwdriver to fish the strap through the hole, and a Phillips screwdriver to screw the hook in and secure it with the backup piece.
We live where it can be windy so there was nothing more frustrating than finding our trash cans had blown open. We previously would use ratchet straps to keep our lids closed when putting our cans out on trash day. Since finding the Lid Loc, trash day for us and the trash company is SO much easier. Totally recommend these to anyone wanting to keep their trash lids secured. Super quick and easy install!
Great product - Does the job! Keeps out the critters!
The garbage men destroyed my cheaply made plastic cans with lock on lids so the raccoons were going to town. I bought a new 48 gallon Toter garbage can which is a tank and too heavy for them to knock over. But even that had a swing lid the raccoons could open. So, after a delightful morning of cleaning up their breakfast and hosing out the can, I ordered the Lid Loc. 10 minutes to intall. No problems since.
Great product, easy to install. Even my lazy teenagers will use this product.

Easy to install and very durable. It was 10 months of intensive use (from freezing winter nights to rainy summer days) and it works like new. The only way to notice the age is the color - the orange turned into pink. Not like anybody cares about the color of their trash can bungee cord.

Had a big issue with critters getting in the trash every night. Even pushing the trash down for the lid to be closed they still got in the trash. This made my life so much better and no more critter mess! Highly recommend!
